Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Arcalous Wyckoff
|
Description: |
This patent is an attempt to address the issue of chips, or shavings, feeding up the spirals quickly and freely. Though the inventor doesn't specify Nye and Haviland's patent (28,400), he makes it clear that their approach left wedge-shaped shavings and the thin portions tended to compact and jam in the spirals. He aims to avoid this problem by having each cutter cut shavings/chips which are thick, but only half the width. |
