Description: |
This patent covers the earlier three-lever Auburn Metallic plane with its many adjustable features. Nelson Palmer included claims for the adjustable mouthpiece, a lead bed for the cutter, depth adjuster, lateral adjuster, and tilting bed. It is the full monty of bench planes, having all the adjustment levers one could want. It is well loved by discriminating users.
The Metallic Plane Co also manufactured planes with a subset of the three patented mechanisms. Planes are found marked with this patent date and also the Oct. 19, 1869 date of the patent for corrugated soles 96052 to Elliot Storke. |
