Description:

The first claim is to a lateral adjuster that employees a moveable block that moves in a slot across the width of the cutter.

Also claimed is a lever system for securing the cutter. The screw for tensioning the lever bears on the top surface of the plane stock and the opposite end it bears against both the screw which fastens the cutter to the capiron, and on the sides with stirrup-like projections.

Vendrand discloses, but does not claim, forming hollowed out areas on the sides of the plane for convenience of holding and manipulating the plane. This is 35 years prior to Stanley's design patent D27,474 for handy holes.
