Description:
Gustave Alben Carlson (1876-1963) was born in Aldersback, Swden, and moved to Detroit age 14. He worked with Henry Leland among others. In 1906 he established Acme Mfg. Co., manufacturer of grinding and polishing machines, many of which were highly automated and specialized for finished automotive components. His sons, Glen A. Carlson and George R. Carlson, both designed and patented machinery for Acme Mfg.
