Description: |
The bit tang has a square groove which engages with a matching projection in the jaws. A spring applies pressure to a movable face opposite the projection. When the bit is in place, a sliding collar locks it down. This early Amos Smith patent brace is very rare (Pearson "A" rating).Co-assignee George W. Otis was a blacksmith in Lynn. |
