| Extended 1856-07-08. From the 1871-10-04 Scientific American: "The splitting machine, for shoe pegs, which are now manufactured so extensively in this country, and exported to Europe, was invented thirty years ago by S. K. Baldwin, of Laconia, N. H. A pointing machine for the manufacture of the same article was invented twenty years ago by A. H. Baldwin, of the same place. It is said that neither of the Baldwin machines have been improved upon, since they were first introduced to the public." We have not been able to find any patent associated with an A. H. Baldwin of New Hampshire. |
