Description: |
| The shank is a rule, with the end shaped as a screwdriver. The handle slides on the shank, and grips with a chuck. The end of the handle has a slotted cap to allow it to slide over the shank to expose the screwdriver. The end cap also unscrews to uncover a tack claw on the end of the handle. The specifications contrast this arrangement to Thayer's June 24, 1862 patent (no. 35,715), which uses a set screw to hold the handle to the shank, and has the tack claw formed on the hammer head. |
