| The ratchet wrench in this patent has an internal pawl as in Miller's previous ratchet patent (no. 845,716, dated Feb. 26, 1907). This patent has the body of the wrench made of two cast parts, and has a socket on the end of the handle to hold wrench sockets, screwdriver bits, etc.
Each of the sockets and other tools that fit this ratchet head has a separate spring to grip the opening in the ratchet head.
This form of Charles Miller's ratchet wrench is shown as part of the MILLER COMBINATION TOOL SET produced by Miller and partner Levi L. Silverman. It was the subject of a lawsuit filed by Silverman against Miller after Silverman bought out Miller's interest in September, 1905 (Silverman v. Miller 190 NY 504 ) |
