Description: |
The metal for the cutting edge is steel. The process described in this patent is to cast the remainder of the axe head around the prepared steel bit. The weld is facilitated by borax flux. After casting, the bit is shaped by hammering or rolling with the steel at a red heat; the entire head may be annealed. After shaping, the entire head is dressed and finished. |
