Description: |
From the 1884 book "History of Middlesex County, Connecticut": "About 1837, the firm associated with them (Ebenezer Nichols and son William E. Nichols), Mr. Roswell Davidson, built a small shop, now a part of the "East Mill," and engaged in the manufacture of gimlets, under a patent granted to Mr. Orville Percival. In this enterprise they were not successful..." This description is a bit difficult to parse, but it seems that E. Nichols, W. E. Nichols, and R. Davidson, were partners in the East Mill, which manufactured these patent gimlets. We have not found a single independent corroboration of this 1884 book but we have no particular reason to doubt it. |
