Description: |
The socket and connectors in this patent together with the ratchet described in parallel patent no. 845,716 were produced in sets. The second image shows a set advertised in February 1906. A contemporary extended description of another such set is shown with 845,716.
Ken Cope's "American Wrench Makers 1830-1930," notes that Miller produced these wrench sets at Syracuse. A set is shown in picture #182 in "Antique and Unusual Wrenches" by Schulzes. The "Silver Metal" sets evolved into sets marketed by the C.M.B. Wrench Co. of Syracuse, NY and later Garwood, NJ.
Similar extensions and sockets with square studs appear in Syracuse Wrench Co. sets that employed a ratchet based on J. J. Albrecht's patent no. 873,977. |
