Description:
A correspondent reports that an example (see pictures) was seen at a swap meet. One of the photographs shows a partial name stamp above the patent date; the name looks like it might be "A. HOLLIDAY".

The patent covers the bit holder, "consisting of a longitudinal groove in the brace-stock, terminating in a cross socket or hole to receive the shank and bent end of the bit, and a sliding collar on the stock, having a set-screw for fixing it and holding the bit in place."

An 1871 San Francisco directory has a listing for "Holliday & Heyessen (Isaac Holliday and Jacob W. Heyessen) wood and coal, N Leavenworth bet Eddy and Ellis".
