Description: |
Foss claims a levercap with a "rocking end" which makes better contact with the plane iron. The rocking end is a separate piece which is attached to the main part of the levercap via a pivot pin and a leaf type spring. Reminiscent of the Millers Falls levercap 1822520.
Not claimed, but of interest, is the means for securing the levercap. Ears are provided on each side of the levercap which mate with "swelled" sides in the plane. These swells provide for a distinctive shape to Foss planes. |
