Stan Schulz Hazeltine and Chantrell adjustable socket wrench (FLICKR)
|
Description: |
The adjustable socket works by a central left- and -right hand threaded bolt with a central knurl. Produced as a solid "T" handle socket wrench - known examples marked "PATD. FEB. 28 82 HAZELTINE & CHANTRELL BRIDGEPORT" -- or as a brace wrench with a socket using this design. In 1900, SMITH & EGGE was advertising the wrench.
The adjusting screw with left- and right-hand threads also appears in John Chantrell's bit brace (patent no. 284,276). |
