| Fixed and adjustable jaw on one handle of a pair of pincers. The adjustment on the tool as produced reflects Figs. 1 - 3 in the patent drawings. Ripley notes how this patent improves on his previous pincer wrench patent granted Apr. 7, 1857 (no. 16,997).
An 1865 directory ad for W. & E.T. Fitch (New Haven, CT) notes their manufacture of RIPLEY'S PATENT PINCER WRENCHES, but does not include an illustration to show what style. The firm issued descriptive catalogs; the 1869 catalog (not seen) included RIPLEY'S PATENT PINCER WRENCHES.
