Steve Reynolds Patrick Leach on Shaw plane patents Shaw's Patent Plane at Brass City
|
Description: |
This patent is for a frog adjuster that is functionally equivalent to that on the more famous Bed Rock line of planes made by Stanley 987081. It allows the frog to be adjusted to set the mouth size without removing the cutter. It was another 4 years until Sargent produced the Shaw's patent line of benchplanes in 1910, and production ended in 1918. The benchplanes in the Shaw's patent line are numbered from 7 to 24. These planes also used Wright's patented lateral adjuster 445793. These are well made and collectible planes. Shaw's patented planes used this and 377645. |
