Description:
The patent is for "barbed" or "corrugated shank" horseshoe nails; the specifications are an extended discourse on the dangers of improperly driven "standard" horseshoe nails and the advantages of the corrugated nails. Capewell went on to invent machinery for the "automated" production of horseshoe nails, and the resulting company claimed to be the largest producer of horseshoe nails in the world.

Corresponding Canadian patent CA-11,820 has Capewell as primary inventor.

Corrugated nails are noted as part of the early 20th Century production of the CAPEWELL HORSE NAIL Co. (Hartford, CT) - successor to G.H. Capewell & Co.
