Description: |
Handle with semicircular opening for the thumb of the second had to aid in sawing.
Patentee indicates previous methods have used a rest for the second hand on top of the saw blade, by making handles with two separate openings, and enlarging the opening to facilitate use of both hands.
Utilized on WMC No 24 saw. Early production have the patent date stamped on the handle near the notch. Unmarked models observed with reinforcing side plates on the handles.
WMC saw without notch patent produced that follows patent design (pic 3).
Warranted Superior saw with notch patent stamp, wheat carving, and model marking No 18 along with Cast Steel, Patent Ground, Thin and Pittsburg on blade (pic 4) |
