Description: |
The primary claim centers on a ratchet mechanism enclosed in an auger or gimlet handle of ordinary appearance. Best executed in cast iron to form the internal cavities, there is a small levered rod, in an appropriately shaped recess in one end of the handle, which alternately engages the right or left hand double pawls by means of "toes" on its working end. |
