Description: |
The focus of this patent is on the continuation of the pod, (groove or channel) of the main spiral down across the lead screw. The channel is to be hollowed-out so as to create cutting edges, with the aim of aiding the lead screw threads to clear themselves . Intended to be used on augers, auger bits and gimlets which have lead screws. A known example is marked "Gladwin's Pat Nov.1.81" with no other indication as to the manufacturer (thanks to Dan Miller for this information).
For a very similar idea, see Brigg's patent number 270200. |
