Description: |
Saws are flattened before hardening. They are placed in the oven until "quite hot"; transferred to clamping plates; pressed in a softened condition; and reheated if needed and then hardened in a bath of oil. Hammering is still required after hardening but it is claimed to be reduced by 2/3s and the amount of grinding required reduced by 1/3. Process appears to be an improvement of his earlier patent 65,946.
Assumed to be utilized by Richardson Bros in their saw making operations. |
