Description: |
The main focus of the patent is that the chain will grip in either direction without resetting the chain.
This is one of two chain wrench patents granted on April 17, 1906 that may be referenced in the BILLINGS AND SPENCER PAT. APR. 17, 1906 "Reversible" Chain Pipe Wrench. The Alloy Artifacts web site claims this one was used by B&S.
The other patent (no. 818,025), has a gripping "shoe" hinged to the main lever handle. The BILLINGS AND SPENCER wrench includes a similar structure. |
