Stan Schulz Collins Co. v. Loring Coes, et. al. (google/books)
|
Description: |
The "strain" of a monkey wrench adjusting screw is transferred to the main bar by a "step" held solid to the bar by a nut.
One extant example is marked "Jordan and Smith," which suggests the partners produced the wrench before the Collins Co. acquired the rights.
This patent was the subject of protracted litigation between the Collins Company, Loring Coes, and A.G. Coes & Co. Aury Coes referenced this patent in his March 8, 1870 ferule patent (no. 100,602).
In March 1889 this patent was found void for want of novelty by the U.S. Supreme Court. (West's Supreme Court Reporter, v.9, pg. 514 ff. 130 U.S. 56 ) The decision includes drawings and descriptions of several wrench patents germane to the decision. |
