Description: |
The self-adjusting design consists of the hook jaw with its integral pivot studs, the two cam-jaw pieces that together form the fixed jaw, and the socketed handle which screws on to the base to hold the pieces together.
The piece as produced differs from the patent in that the cam jaw piece is solid, with the hook jaw connected by a bolt. Produced as the Huntington Pipe Wrench in three sizes, with the base of the wrench head threaded to fit common pipe fittings. The marking (PAT MAY 83) may be obliterated by use; the wrench head may be found without an attached handle.
The comparable Canadian patent is no. CA-19,564 issued June 14, 1884.
The patent is noted in pat. no. 333,836. |
