Description: |
| The jaw has a combination of a flat tip with fine teeth, an intermediate curved surface with coarser teeth, and a wire cutter portion nearest the pivot point. The jaws in the drawing are shown on the "toggle wrench" in patent no. 2,280,005, but are patented independently of that tool. This patent reflects the curved-jaw "Vise-Grip" locking pliers, introduced in 1947. The patent number was not used in advertising, or marked on the tools. The "thin nose" was replaced by a wider jaw version beginning in 1948.
The patent cites U.S. patents no. 656,394, 988,656, 1,141,786, 1,336,461, 1,442,083, 1,504,401, 2,280,005, and a British patent from 1910 as relevant prior art. |
