Description: |
Specialized pliers for removing wheel balance weights without impairing their reusability. A P.D.Q. Weight Remover marked with this patent number also incorporated a hammer poll; a modified version of the tool cites patent 2,314,145, etc.
Part of the "environment" influencing these designs included incorporating additional functions, and competing designs for the weights. In one lawsuit over the "priority" of related patents for the weights [Harley C. Loney Company V. Ravenscroft], Tracy Carrigan's testimony reveals he was a mechanical engineer employed by the John Bean Company, a "manufacturer of automotive garage equipment." JOHN BEAN (Pat App For) weight removing pliers are noted in 1951 automotive trade publications, but not shown in the "snippet view" available in google/books. P.D.Q. Balance Weight Remover pliers from BEAR are noted (but not shown) in "snippet views" of 1940 trade journals.
