A January 29, 1874 "IRON AGE" item indicates J. Austin & Co. produced this wrench. An 1877 hardware supply catalog lists three sizes.
A known example is marked WHEATCROFT PATENT 1873. Another known example is marked WHEATCROFT'S PAT DEC. 2. 1873. They have a leaf spring at the "heel" of the swinging jaw to help keep it in the closed position.
