| Description: | | The handle portion is similar to Bessolo's contemporary patents (nos. 1,004,792 and 1,008,939). In this patent, the movement of the handle and pawl close pinchers type jaws.
The handle and pawl appear in a BESSOLO pipe wrench produced in limited numbers in various California locations. One known example has no place of manufacture; others are marked SAN DIEGO SPECIALTY WORKS and BESSOLO WRENCHES AND PLIERS SAN FRANCISCO. The San Francisco marked wrench also has patent no. 1,158,164.
A 1919 HARDWARE WORLD article describing proposed Bessolo wrench production by the WALLA WALLA TOOL & WRENCH CO. shows drawings from this patent along with 1,004,792 and 1,157,495.
Corresponding Canadian patent CA-151,513 was granted Nov. 4, 1913. | |
