Description: |
A conical or snail-shell type worm engages rack teeth to move and support the movable jaw. The overall patent shows this principle in a variety of implementations. This entry focuses on the implementation produced as THE GREBE adjustable spanner. The jaw also has a spring on the back which allows the adjusting worm to be lifted off the rack for quick adjustment.
Following British practice, the patent is granted to the firm without naming an individual inventor. Ron Geesin's THE ADJUSTABLE SPANNER supplies the individual inventor from the French and Canadian patents (i.e. CA-526,217). |
