Description: |
A pivoted cam with spiral groove or edge provides adjustment for the movable jaw. The principle is shown as applied to a variety of wrench forms.
An adjustable wrench marked "BURSTON / BRITISH PATENT 384468 - 26-1-32 / CHAS. RICHARDS & SONS LTD - DARLASTON, ENGLAND" embodies this patent. Corresponding U.S. patent 2,053,033 was granted in 1936.
The patent appears to be an example of independent invention of using a "spiral cam" for wrench adjustment, as the idea appears in U.S. 1903 patent 734,329, which is not known to have been produced. |
