Abstract:
Reversing helically toothed gearing for the impression cylinders and plate cylinders of a reversible rotary printing machine comprises a uni-directional input shaft 2 driving through bevels 3, 4 to intermediate wheels 5, 6 carried in a fork 7, which rocks about the axis 8 of the bevel 4 to bring either of the wheels 5 or 6 selectively into mesh with one or other of two gear-wheels (not shown) on the shaft of the cylinder 1 for forward or reverse drive of the cylinder, the cylinder gear-wheels having the same number of teeth but different diameters. The fork 7 is rocked by a pinion 9 which engages a toothed segment 10 fast on the fork, the pinion 9 being manually turned by a lever (Fig. 2, not shown) and the fork 7 locked in either setting by a pair of coned sleeves clamped together by a screwed rod turned by a second lever (also Fig. 2, not shown). |
