Joel Havens "Vintage Machinery" entry for John Abell Engine & Machine Works
|
Description: |
Abstract:
The object of my invention is to prevent any grain being carried away with the straw and failing in passing through a thrashing machine and consists in a double row of fingers placed at the back end of the shoe and arranged so as to agitate the straw passing over them shaking out any grain lodged therein and loosening the straw so that the current of air may better pass there through. Also, in an improved screen for barley and oats, the holes in this screen are oval and for a portion of the length of the screen run longitudinally therewith, the rest of the distance being punched across the screen, which at this point is corrugated at and for the purpose hereafter explained. |
