Description: |
| The innovation here is to replace sandpaper with a mixture of sand and paraffin. In use, the mixture of sanding dust and paraffin fills the pores of the wood. The paraffin also prevents the sanding dust from becoming airborne.This invention was written up in the 1860-11-03 Scientific American. The inventor had a firm that manufactured slate frames, and he later had a lumber business as well. His machines were definitely used in his own shops but we have found no evidence that they were more widely used. |
