Description:
This invention relates to a twin bandmill and is intended to saw flitches or cants with opposing sawn faces kept parallel within tight limits. It uses a "shear blade", a sort of elongated splitter that is intended to hold the log or cant at a fixed position relative to the axis of the blade. Otherwise, the cutting forces tend to cause the log to rotate while being cut which leads to helical cut surfaces and is called "Propellering".
