Description: |
Adjustable cross clevis with one fixed "jaw." one sliding "jaw" and a screw pin. As shown in the drawings this provides an adjustable cross clevis which can be adapted for use with a variety of plow beams, including those with a draft brace. The clevis addresses issues arising from the use of three horses abreast.
One known example marked "PAT 2-15-98;" another marked only with part numbers "KKC and KKD," and a third marked in part "3000 A."
Appears in a 1917 Wm. Frankfurth Hardware (Milwaukee) catalog as STOWELL's Cross Thomas Patent Clevis, and in a 1924 STOWE SUPPLY Co (Kansas City) catalog as "STOWELL's Cross Clevis." "Generic" examples may not have any marking directly linking to this patent. Stowell's Cross Clevis appears in a 1955 Belknap Hardware & Mfg. Co. catalog. |
