Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for F. E. Wells & Son Co. Vintage Machinery entry for Greenfield Tap & Die Corp.
|
Description: |
This patent was issued shortly after F. E. Wells & Son merged with Wiley & Russell Mfg. Co. to create Greenfield Tap & Die Co. But the two parent firms continued to advertise separately and mark their products with the old name for more than three years after the merger. This patented die was sold as F. E. Wells & Son's "O. K. screw plate".This patent covers a drop-forged die with a raised rim and radial ribs. The advertising for this die claimed that this design provided longer wear and improved chip clearance. |
