Description:

The design uses a wooden shear pin to relieve strain on draft animals when the plow hangs up on a root or stone.

A known example marked "DAVIS PAT DEC. 1 1885" looks different than the generalized design shown in the patent drawings. Manufacturer attribution from a Dec. 1887 FARM IMPLEMENT NEWS ad showing the Davis Patent Break Pin Clevis and 3-Horse Equalizer Combined along with a Davis patent Whiffletree Hook.
