Vintage Machinery entry for Rivett-Dock Co.
Description:
This lathe attachment is used to cut very accurate threads, such as for lathe leadscrews. It uses a series of disc-shaped cutters to progressively cut the thread to accurate form. This patent was improved in Edward Rivett's patent 652,643, which used Dock's cutters but makes several refinements to the rest of the design.
