Description: |
This mechanism tackles the problem of sparking contact points fusing metal particles from one contact onto the other, which decreased contact surface and increases resistance, which leads to more sparking and the rapid deterioration of the points. This invention provides a "percussive blow" when the points are brought together in an attempt to peen the misplaced metal particles. The patents specification says that the force of the blow must be carefully judged to flatten the point surfaces without causes breakage or excessive wear. |
