Abstract:
An internal gauge for cylinders and the like has three contact arms on a tube co-axial with the cylinder and is provided with a micrometer head for reading the diameter directly. The stem A has three projections B, either in the same plane and 120 apart, or equally spaced on an imaginary conical surface, which form guides for arms C, free to slide in and out under the constraint of springs E and the conical head D of the micrometer spindle F. The opposite end of this spindle is screwed and works in a nut G fixed to or integral with the stem A, and has attached to it the thimble-shaped micrometer head H, the edge L of which is graduated and moves over a linear scale on the stem at N. The attachment may be by means of a conical headed screw J and a split end of the spindle, thereby providing for the correction of zero-error. The parts C, D may or may not be capable of rotation. |
