| Hinged clamping elements with curved areas conforming to a standard canning jar lid. The curved areas have top and bottom flanges with gripping cushions between. The top flange rides on top of the jar lid; the lower flange is sized to not contact the lid.
Two known examples marked respectively "PAT PENDING" and "IXL / PAT MAY 13, 1902" are formed of malleable iron. |
