| The central idea is this patent is pouring molten soft metal into the space between the wrench shank and wood handle to form a solid bond. Flats on the shank and interior grooves in the wood handle provide bearing surfaces for the bonding metal.  Known examples are marked, "COLLINS & CO - HARTFORD USA - PATENTED JULY 22, 1902."
