This marking gage is designed to allow two independent mortise
settings to be maintained on the same gage. The bar is H-shaped,
with each side holding a nested pair of arms, each with a marking
point. The arms are locked independantly, which allows them
to be adjusted without affecting each other
The design also has a fence on the end of the arm like many
butt gages, but the points are not able to reference this
face. I cannot understand what the purpose of this fence is,
and the patent claims do not cover it.
