Nova Scotia (NS) patents were issued between 1834 and 1867, when they joined with Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick to form the Dominion of Canada.

"...an upright case or wrought iron back for a piano forte copmosed of a bottom plate of iron to which is bolted or screwed a number of iron pillars to be cast separately or in one piece, the number of pillars to vary according to the size of the instrument to be manufactured and the pillars to be screwed or bolted at the top and bottom..."
