        Description: |
| This mechanism produces a cutout in the form of a circular arc, which is perhaps not ideal for defining a saw-tooth but would be perfect for mounting an inserted saw-tooth cutter. The inventor did not contemplate such saws (which were not a new idea in 1857, but were not common), and this hand-cranked cutter probably cannot produce sufficiently large cutouts for such a saw. |
