| The basic form is a combination axle nut wrench and carriage jack similar to those in patent nos. 397,499 or 530,109 -- the latter also from Leesburg, VA!
In this patent, the components are separable, so the monkey wrench, screwdriver, and oiler can be used separately as well as fulfilling their roles in the combination.
Corresponding Canadian patent no. CA-56,351 was issued June 21, 1897.
Charles E. Thompson's Combination Carriage Jack and Wrench announced in the Jul 12, 1900 IRON AGE and other contemporary trade publications incorporates aspects of the wrench and jack in a combined tool. |
