Court decision involving this patent
Description:
The inventor and the original assignee, Henry F. Read, were sued by J. G. Hoffman Mfg. Co.; the suit demanded that the patent assignment be turned over to them and damages assessed. The plaintiff won. Meanwhile, Read had died, intestate. The plaintiff then sued the administrator of Read's estate with a supplemental complaint seeking additional damages. The administrator demurred on the grounds that the suit was frivolous because it did not provide any evidence that the suit survived the original judgement. The Supreme Court of New York agreed and dismissed the new suit, with costs. See the link for more details.

A search for information on J. G. Hoffman Mfg. Co. only turned up information relating to patent assignments and court judgements. We did not find anything suggesting that they ever manufactured anything.
