Description: |
Modification to the design in GB-190401868 where the effective angle of the head and jaws is altered by re-positioning the two handle sections. Rack teeth in the handle sections mesh to hold the angle adjustment. U.S. patent 912,507, German patent DE-194499 and French patent FR-371433 show the same handle structure with an adjustable jaw "head." That form with "CLYBURN" type head and adjustable jaw was produced as the GRYP spanner by F.M. Russell and Co.
Note: Early British patents (pre 1916) were numbered by the year and started at patent #1 at the start of each year in January. The patent # used in DATAMP represents the year of registration and the patent # (with "leading zeros" interposed to make the number total nine digits). This patent is #20,718 of the year 1905. |
