Jeff Joslin Vintage Machinery entry for Hugo Bilgram, Bilgram Machine Works
|
Description: |
This gear cutting machine is designed to cut a tooth profile that varies slightly from the "ideal" mathematically determined profile so that the load on a tooth gradually increased to a maximum and then falls off as the next tooth comes into engagement. This avoids the humming noise that comes from the ideal tooth where the load is shared equally across two teeth and until one of them falls out of engagement and then the entire load is suddenly transferred to the other tooth. |
