This patent, which covers a method of driving a bandsaw blade using a second belt wrapped around the lower band wheel, appears to have been anticipated by Lemuel Hedge's patent 8,056 from 1851. The inventor was a partner in sawmill operator Curtiss & Lawrence (with Sydney H. Curtiss).
